This Twin University Loft Bed with Built in Ladder and 2 Guardrails has 1″ square and .5″ square cross tubes with a button hook in style connector. The epoxy powder coating makes it rust resistant. The built-in ladder and guardrails ensure that it meets the ASTM F 1427-13 Standard Consumer Safety Specifications for Bunk Beds and meets the Code of Federal Regulations 1213 Safety Standard for Entrapment Hazard in Bunk Beds, and the Code of Federal Regulations 1513 Requirements for Bunk Beds
